The Mon Valley Environmental & Innovative Training is a program of Heritage Community Initiatives. The program is designed to identify emerging labor opportunities in environmentally-oriented fields such as land development, energy, and construction. Its first training offering is the Environmental Field Technician Training course.

The program includes classroom instruction on ecology and environmental science, job-related computer training, field visits to environmental work sites, and a real-life field experience.

In June 2009 we graduated 48 trainees, all of whom qualified for several OSHA and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certifications.  They are the 40-hour HAZWOPER, 10-hour Construction Safety, Permit Required Confined Space, Lead Construction Standard, and the PA Asbestos Worker license.

A few examples of jobs that MOVE IT graduates have qualified for are Environmental Field Technical (site assessments and environmental sampling), Construction Laborer, Lab Technician, and Hazardous Materials Removal Technician.

The program Director is Ron Gaydos.  The Outreach and Placement Coordinator is Mary Hajdukiewicz.  For more information, check back here again or call (412) 351-0535.
